Zamakona Yards has received an order from Intership AS, Norway, for a 76 m long by 17 m and 2.500 m3 wellboat for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The new wellboat will be built at the facilities of Zamakona in Bilbao, based on a design from Salt Ship Design. Promoting good fish welfare, fish handling and biosecurity are of the highest priority. The vessel will be equipped with energy recovery solutions and a large battery package to permit hybrid operation and is prepared for a considerably sized reverse osmosis system. To avoid major depth restrictions the newbuild will have a low operational draught compared to its size.

The Chairman of Zamakona, Pedro Garaygordobil, comments, “Zamakona strengths its position as a reputed well boat builder. The new contract for Intership is a great success for our company and allows keeping a strong order book for the next 2 years”
